Quite a bit of hype and misinformation is focused on turf type. We'd like to clear the air. There are basically two types of synthetic turf systems - sand/rubber infill vs. non-infill. Another difference is the turf fiber itself which is made of either polypropylene, polyethylene or nylon. Depending on who (installer) you ask, you will get biased, slanted views of the various turf types and installation systems.
Our best advice to you is to actually evaluate the product first hand. Ask to see installations in your areas by the company and check their references. Does it resemble a real golf green? Are the seams visible? Is the base well constructed? Are the slopes/contours of the green realistic? How does it roll? How does it accept chip shots? Lastly, ask to see installations that are at least one-year old
to see how they are holding up. The product should speak for itself!
Another myth to beware is "no maintenance". Truth is the product is low maintenance but it's not going to clean itself. It's an outdoor product. Dirt and debris will settle into the turf and some maintenance is necessary. You want to learn what is involved in maintaining the green. Does the company service and support their product installations?
Southwest Greens has tried every available turf product and installation system in the industry. We have developed a proven system and turf specification that delivers the best possible result in terms of performance, look and durability. Why else would so many top PGA pros own and endorse our product? |
